Botox is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions, and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by quickly paralyzing muscles. It’s made up of a neurotoxin known as botulinum toxin that’s made by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

Botox Cosmetic is an injectable wrinkle muscle relaxer. It uses botulinum toxin type A, specifically Onabotulinumtoxin A, to quickly paralyze muscle. This reduces the looks of facial wrinkles.

A botox treatment is minimally invasive. It’s considered a secure, effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. It also can be used on the forehead between the eyes.

Preparing for Botox Cosmetic

Botox Cosmetic involves a nonsurgical, in-office treatment. It needs minimal preparation. You should let your treatment provider know about your medical record, allergies, or medical conditions before your procedure.

You might need to take away all your makeup and cleanse the treatment area before the procedure. You’ll also need to avoid blood-thinning medication like aspirin, green tea, garlic and ginger , to reduce the risk of bruising.

Botox Cosmetic works by quickly blocking nerve signals and muscle contractions. This improves the looks of wrinkles around the eyes and between the eyebrows. It also can slow the formation of latest lines by preventing contraction of facial muscles.

It’s a minimally invasive procedure. It doesn’t involve incisions or general anaesthesia. If you’re involved regarding pain or discomfort, a local anesthetic or ice can numb the treatment area.

During the procedure, your supplier can use a thin needle to administer 3-5 injections of botulinum toxin type A. They will inject the targeted area between the eyebrows. You’ll usually need 3 injections on the side of each eye to smooth out crow’s feet. The entire procedure takes close to ten to fifteen minutes. The complete result may take two weeks time for you to appreciate.
